East London Design Show
Cornerstone event: Treasure
The ELDS created Treasure - one of the cornerstone events of LJW showcasing the country’s most exciting contemporary jewellers. Treasure will showcase visionary design, cutting-edge technology and new talent providing a platform for pioneering exhibitors from the very best in British contemporary jewellery design. A dedicated trade day has also been added this year.
The Fair trade Foundation
The world's first Fairtrade and Fairmined gold was launched in the UK in February as a first step in tackling the poverty and dangerous conditions faced by small-scale miners. 20 companies are involved in the launch of the new gold, which has been used in collections and one-off pieces including wedding and engagement rings, earrings and necklaces. Each piece will carry a Fairtrade and Fairmined mark. These practitioners will be exhibiting at Essence, the Ethical Jewellery at Treasure.
The Jewellery Show London
Jewellery Week is proud to announce that The Jewellery Show from i2i events – the UK’s premier retail jewellery trade exhibition - is the trade partner for Jewellery Week 2012.
Following on from the success of the Jewellery show Salon at Treasure in 2011, JW12 Introduces the hottest launch event of the season: The unveiling of The Jewellery Show London. This exclusive 2-day trade-only event will take place on June 12-13th at one of London's most iconic buildings - Somerset House. A unique and inspiring location for what will be an equally unique and inspiring first show.
Somerset House
Somerset House is a spectacular neo-classical building in the heart of London, sitting between the Strand and the River Thames. Since opening to the public in 2000, Somerset House has produced a distinctive public programme that annually draws over 1.2 million visitors to the site, providing a centre for arts and culture in the heart of London, as well as housing numerous creative communities.
The varied, year-round programme includes an open air film and concert season and ice rink, as well as temporary exhibitions focusing on contemporary fashion, design, art and architecture, family workshops and free guided tours. In September 2009, Somerset House became the new home of London Fashion Week and from June 2012 will be the new home to The Jewellery Show London and Treasure.
